Creating the Contour collection

con·tour (a; plural: contours)
the edge or line that defines or bounds a shape or object

The creative journey is as much fun as achieving the end result; thinking of ideas, making sketches and models, perfecting the shape and look. I also work as a graphic designer and the designs of the Contour collection have a graphic ‘touch’ as well. The thin lines of the collection look bold because of the simple and clean shapes. In the rings the contrast between high-gloss and matte surfaces is complemented with a small zirconia as a luxury detail.

You can choose the shape that suits you but you can also combine shapes.

In every way the Contour collection makes you stand out from the crowd!

Dutch Jewel Design

Eva de Hilster – jewelry designer

Since childhood I have been busy with drawing and crafting. I am a graphic designer and have my own company since 2013. Now, I combine my daily work with exploring the world of jewelry and object design.

A large part of my skills I learned in an autodidactic way. After following a workshop Jewelry and objects making, I was hooked on working with metal and other materials to make my own designs. This is what I wanted to do: designing and creating jewelry.

To learn more about goldsmithing techniques, I follow lessons by Karin Kortenhorst and I have followed a part-time training course at Schoonhoven jewellery school. In addition, I try to improve and expand my skills in all sorts of ways, often just by ‘doing’ it.

I always have my sketchbook with me or I use an app to write down or sketch my ideas. The possibilities of shapes and materials are endless. Aside from jewelry I am also experimenting with creating (kinetic) objects using metal wire and polycarbonate. I hope to show more of these to you in the future.

Keeping your jewelry nice

The Contour collection is made of .925 silver. You can choose to wear these eye-catchers only on special occasions, but if you are just like me, you wear them every day, all day long;).

Silver is a soft metal and as a result, there will always be scratches during wear. That is inherent to silver and gives the metal its character. Factory made jewels are sometimes rhodinated for temporary protection but this coating will wear of over time.

All my jewelry is handmade and do not have any coating. You can clean them in warm soapy water and polish them with a soft cloth and some silver polish. The matte sides of the Contour collection can become shiny again after wearing them for a while. The matte effect can be restored by gently rubbing these edges over a fine scourer.
